Palacio Real and Tapas Crawl

Tues (7 Aug 07) - Lunch at La Bola Taverna. Tried the Madrid stew, a meaty soup cooked with chick peas.
Outside La Bola Taverna
Outside Palacio Real

Palacio Real - I liked the ornate lampposts.

Palacio Real - the third most lavish palace in the world (Versailles is the most lavish palace followed by the Schonbrunn Palace in Vienna)
Deb & I (with our bodyguards...just kidding...those guys were just nice and waiting for our pic to be taken before walking past).

Spanish Cathedral

Palace Hotel

Football stadium - home stadium of Real Madrid

The Capitol cinema next to our hotel
Tapas crawl in Plaza Santa Ana

La Casa Del Abuelo does yummy prawn tapas

At the Ham Museum
The Spanish love their ham with melon

At 3am outside Palacio Gaviria (an old Spanish palace converted into a nightclub) - Deb still smiling after being lifted in the air by a young Spaniard called "Pedro" on the dance floor. It was quite hilarious looking back but we were pretty freaked out at the time.
