More interviews, More sights!

Putting my new phone to good use - and not having to carry around a camera at the same time!
This is the sight as you exit Westminster tube station - I was on my way to see one of the recruiters. Big Ben!!!!

Big Ben is also part of the Houses of Parliament!

And around the corner from the Houses of Parliament is the Prime Minister's residence at Downing Street! High security - so you can never reach number 10 (unless you're a VIP of course!)...

After my interviews, I just walked around - and walked towards May's new workplace at Appold St - Watson Farley Williams. This is Appold Street.

This is the building where Watson Farley is.

Chatting with home & Walking around!

Well, this is what I do during the day if I'm not out and about - chatting with home - seeing the family at home, missing all the yummy food that they are eating and being there to muck around with everyone!

Then, when I finish talking to home, I go and see the sights! This is the view near Tower Bridge, down the road from our temporary apartment. See the 'gerkin' towards the right side of the photo? Made famous in Basic Instinct II.

This is Tower Bridge - mistaken for the London Bridge (made famous by the nursery rhyme) by first time visitors to London. In fact, an American bought the 'old' London Bridge thinking that this is what he bought - funny! London Bridge is about as spectacular as the Narrows Bridge in Perth!!!

A view in the evening - walking along the Thames!

Permanent Temporary Accomodation

This is our more 'permanent' temporary accomodation! It's much nicer than our initial accomodation - cleaner, safer and much more quiet!

The apartment is on the rooftop - it's a like a rooftop cabin!

The kitchen is well equipped - but no microwave!! (strange)

China Town and Piccadilly Circus

Hi!! Been a while since our last post. This is me in Chinatown!! Ate my first horfun in 2 weeks there,... yummo! Also did alot of grocery shopping, bought the usual things - including Korean noodles, Maggi noodles etc etc!!

Am I losing weight? or maybe it's the black top (very slimming!)...

This is Piccadilly Circus - lots of neon signs!!

More Apartment photos

More for May's benefit - here is a description of the apartment. The apartment is also equipped with sauna, gym, mini theatre room. Here are more photos of the inside of the apartment. The landlord is currently living there (which means it hasn't been trashed by other tennants - and we have seen trashed!) - he is moving to Hong Kong for work!

We have put down a deposit - never got this far with the other one - now we need to secure it with references and proof that we can service the rent!

More interviews & New apartment!

Well, more interviews, more 'chance' photos.... this time of the British Museum which happened to be just around the corner from one of the recruitment agents - Michael Page. The British Museum is FREE entry - May and I have been there before and it is HUGE! - we will go back no doubt to see it again - this time with much more time up our sleaves we will peruse in DETAIL!!! These are some photos of the outside I took while waiting for my interview at Michael Page.

Since I posted pictures of the last apartment we were about to put an offer on, it got snapped up by other people - such is the rental market here - have to move so quickly - no time for procrastination. Anyway, we have found an alternative (just as things looked hopeless). This place is newer, and is cheaper than the other place we wanted to rent. It is still quite handy for buses towards the city. Here are some pictures!

More Photos - my NEW phone!

Hello again! Today I spent the day going from one recruitment agency to another - tiring work!! More tomorrow!!! :(

Anyway, in between when I have some spare time I see some of the sights in London - which actually reminds me that I am IN London - doesn't feel like that sometimes. At the moment it just feels like I am in a different bed and going from meeting to meeting and looking for a roof over our heads! I really don't envy those who need to rent...

Well, when I do get the chance I get to use my NEW phone! What a difference from my old one!... Sharon, Hobbo, Chelsea and Chris will be proud of me!!! Yes, I can hear you laughing now STILL about my Mexican Hat Dance ring tone - I am now POLYPHONIC - and quad band (ie I can use in Japan!) - future proofed for the time being! Well, it's pretty cool and it takes photos (light years ahead from my old two colour phone) and at first I was a bit sceptical about the picture quality - but as you can see from the photos below, it's not too bad!!! These pictures were taken en-route between two of my interviews.... and if I'm not taking photos I'm searching for free wi-fi hot spots - so Aunty Jenny, I went with slide phone in the end as it was the best bang for the buck!!!

Trafalgar Square

The Royal Courts of Justice (along The Strand)

St Paul's Cathedral - the second largest dome structure in the world - the largest being St Peter's Basilica in Rome (Vatican City).

London Eye (Millenium Wheel) and Big Ben in the background

Well, that's it for now - well and truly raining outside ATM (that's 'at the moment' for those who don't use messenger lingo) - London weather alright!!!!

Ciao for now!

Angel - Islington

Hello again!

Second day here, another post on the blog – don’t get used to this. I’m sure my interest in the blog will wane and there will be less frequent entries as a result.

Today, we spent the whole day in Angel checking out the area – doing the walk to the apartment in the day AND night – also checking out the location and what there is to do – so far so good.

Took some pictures of the outside of the place – forgot to take pictures of the inside yesterday (great!). Anyway, the block is a warehouse/factory conversion and is situated about 15 minutes walk from Angel. It is secure and has a lift (important!).

These are pictures of the surrounding areas - opposite there is a park. The streets are wide and also well lit at night. The area is far enough away from the busy centre of Angel but yet close enough for access. Fingers crossed that we can get it!!

Well, that's it, hopefully we'll have good news soon that we can get the apartment!

First day in LONDON!

Hi everyone! Well, it's the end of my first day here alone without May (boo hoo) - 20 Oct 2006. I thought I would make the inaugural blog update and show you some pictures of my first day here!

The first photo is of me in our small apartment - my bed is behind the sofa on the floor - it's only a one bedroom apartment and I am sharing with Adrian and Soo (who May and I will eventually be sharing an apartment with throughout our stay in London - to save COSTS!!!).

We did some administration today (eg. setting up bank accounts etc) - which is where i took the second and third pictures - Regent Street - very nice street with lots of old buildings - May likes old buildings. In the third picture is Adrian and Soo with Piccidilly Circus (in the background) - famous place with NEON sign boards!!

The last two photos were taken later this afternoon in Angel. Angel is a very nice place - it has a very cosmopolitan feel to it. We are thinking of renting a place there - rents are reasonable and it is conveniently located close to the city where May will be working. In fact, she can take a quick bus down one of the major roads and she will be at her work!

Well, that's all for now - getting very tired - jet lag is setting in. Tomorrow we are spending the whole day in Angel to get a feel for the place on a Saturday and will also be staying there to late to get a feel of how safe it will be at night. Until the next post - bye!!!
